This exhibition explores intersections of art and language in East Asian culture through contemporary Asian art. Examples include both Asian characters, which are image based, with the Western alphabet, whose letters signify sounds. Representing a variety of styles, media, and presentation modes, the artworks demonstrate the fluid boundaries between written language and art. The works further respond to recent changes in Asian politics and social environments as well as conveying the complex cultural heritage. Through offering the opportunity experience Eastern and Western cultural perspectives, the exhibition seeks to raise awareness about various global issues.
