Workshop: Mini-Art Build

Drawing on experience gained through several years of hands-on art activism, Cosier will lead a workshop that will demonstrate how to run your own Art Builds. Together, Cosier and guests will paint banners that can be used in future actions to support art education and social justice. Doing this work in a way that supports connection to one another and to the wider world has been the key to sustaining us!

Date: Oct. 12
Time: 2-4 pm
Location: Oklahoma Christian University, room TBD

Keynote Lecture: Art Teachers as Activists and Community Builders

Teacher activists across the country have been joining with others in the struggle for social justice. You — Oklahoma teachers inpsired the nation with your walkout — an act almost unheard of in our passive and anesthetized society. Thank you!

This presentation and workshop will draw on Cosier's work as an educator and participation with the Teacher Activist Groups, Art Builds, and Teacher MeetUps. The aim of this work (and play!) is to craft an artistic and teaching practice that is intersection, connecting issues such as schooling, healthcare, food justice, sustainability, racial justice, mass incarceration, and immigration to core assets of contemporary art practices: imagination, play, connection and collaboration.

When: October 12
Time: 5-6 pm
