Cherished Possessions

In conjunction with "In the Mind of a Collector" exhibit, the OSU Museum of Art is organizing a community project titled Cherished Possessions. Participants are invited to share an object that they treasure or something they collect. Museum staff will then photograph each participant with their chosen possession. The photographs will become part of an exhibit that will be on display in the Museum along with any written comments participants would like to share. The project invites viewers to think about the importance of certain objects in their lives, why they are so special, why they like to collect them, or keep them throughout their lives.

In the Mind of a Collector, will be on view from January 14 through July 18, 2020, at the Museum. The exhibition introduces a new category of art—industrial design, which includes everyday objects that we live with—furniture, kitchenware, electronics, toys, equipment, etc. The community art project seeks to make people more aware of the objects they surround themselves with, how they choose these things, why they throw away some and keep others.

Our goal is to include a wide variety of people of different ages and backgrounds to celebrate how much we have in common when it comes to our cherished possessions. Below is a list of events for Cherished Possessions.
