This selection of 27 works explores the issue of social commentary in contemporary ceramics. Representing provocative critiques of current social and political inequities, the exhibition is organized around five themes: war and politics; social and human conditions; gender issues; environmental concerns; and popular and material culture. Featured artists include Akio Takemori, Toby Buonagurio, Nuala Creed, Michelle Erickson, Anne Drew Potter, Ehren Tool, Richard Shaw, and Paula Winokur.
The exhibition is toured by ExhibitsUSA, a national program of the Mid-America Arts Alliance, and curated by Judith S. Schwartz, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Art and Art Professions, New York University.
