Queering the Museum

In conjunction with Pride Week at OSU, Queer the Museum through dialogue, art making, tours, and more!

Visitors are invited to drop in and join us throughout the day for the activities listed below. All are free to the public, and welcoming to all ages and abilities. 11 am to 6 pm. Popcorn will be provided!

 

11 am to 12 pm: Yoga for all Bodies
Enjoy a safe, gentle, and affirming yoga practice where everyone is welcomed and celebrated. This class is suitable for all ages, body types and experience/ability levels and will be led by instructor Bridget Rebek, MPH, ERYT-500. (Please bring your own yoga mat.)

12:30 pm: Gus's Gay Time Tour!
OSQ&A member Angus Henderson will lead a super gay tour of the exhibitions on view. 

1:30 pm: J.C. Leyendecker: Cruising the Ad Line
Angus Henderson will present an art history symposium paper. 

2:00 pm: Artist Talk - Queertoonist Melanie Gillman
Gillman will discuss their career, web comic, and graphic novel, As the Crow Flies.

3:30 pm: Artist Workshop led by Melanie Gillman
Make a one-page cartoon! 

4:30 pm: LGBTQ+ Pop-Up Cinema!
"Vogueing is an art, as well as a political statement."

5 to 9 pm: Art Crawl
First-ever downtown Stillwater art crawl, hosted by the OSU Museum of Art Student Advisory Committee. Click here for details.

All Day
Self-care and wellness area provided by WPAC, alternative label-writing activity, and the privilege game.

 

 

Celebrate all week! These drop-in activities will be available at the museum throughout Pride Week:
  • resource area and interactive mind map
  • art break equity station: bring your own tshirt, bag, etc. on which to stencil your message of equality (the museum will provide poster board)
  • "Let's Talk..." connections and dialogue center
  • ID ME: in connection with a writing prompt
  • queer art/lives reading area
  • create a photo using Rebecca Drolen's Factory installation
