Echoes of Exchange
Echoes of Exchange: Global Trade from Antiquity through the Silk Road
Nov. 17, 2026-Feb. 20, 2027
Reception | November 19, 2026
In collaboration with OSU Professor of History Dr. Tonia Sharlach and her graduate students, Echoes of Exchange explores the Silk Road as a vast network of overland and maritime trade routes that connected East Asia to the Mediterranean, facilitating the exchange of goods, ideas, and artistic traditions. Drawing from the museum’s permanent collection, including a Tang Dynasty terracotta sculpture, ancient coins, and a Roman glass bottle, the exhibition highlights the cultural intersections and far-reaching exchanges that shaped societies across continents. Curated by graduate students, it invites visitors to consider the Silk Road as a dynamic system of connections that continues to shape our world today.
