Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts

This exhibition spans 127 years of artistic production, from 1878 to 2005, showcasing a broad survey of works by artists inspired by the East End of Long Island—an area celebrated for its extraordinary light, coastal landscapes, and vibrant creative community—or collected at a later date. Featuring more than 65 works from the permanent collection of the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, New York, the exhibition reflects artists who have both shaped and been shaped by American and European art.

From landscapes to abstraction, the show highlights a diversity of artistic visions, including works by renowned figures such as Willem de Kooning, Thomas Moran, Jackson Pollock, Miriam Schapiro, and Andy Warhol.

DIY Wednesday

We are partnering with the Student Union Activities board for their March DIY Wednesday.  Attendees will be able to  create their own Jackson Pollock-inspired splatter painting at Chi O'Clock outside of the Student Union.

Second Saturdays

Enjoy free hands-on art activities designed to be inclusive of visitors of all ages and abilities. Each month, the museum will host a new featured artist and art-making activity that draws inspiration from Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts.

Each event is free to attend, drop-in, and runs from 11 AM - 2 PM. Storytime in the Museum hosted by Stillwater Public Library will be at 11:30 AM and 1 PM.

Stillwater Art Guild Tour

The Stillwater Art Guild is coming to the museum for a guided tour, and you're invited! 

This tour, led by OSU Museum of Art Director, Dr. Kirsten Olds, will cover the historic and influential exhibition "Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts."

An Artful Read: New York to Stillwater

Join us for a free, community read of "Bluebeard" by Kurt Vonnegut. This witty, thought-provoking novel follows one-eyed abstract expressionist painter Rabo Karabekian as he reflects on art, truth and the mystery hidden in his barn.

Participants can pick up a copy of "Bluebeard" at the Stillwater Public Library and read independently throughout the month of March. Then, join us at the museum for an evening of refreshments, trivia, art-making and lively conversation inspired by the novel and "Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts."

Color the Block

Part of April Arts Month, this family-friendly arts event invites participants to contribute a line, splatter or expressive mark to a collaborative community mural at Block34. Once completed, the mural will be displayed at the Stillwater Community Center.

Stillwater Arts Festival

Join us for a community celebration of the visual arts! This year, the annual spring community exhibition draws inspiration from "Guild Hall: An Adventure in the Arts."

Guests of all ages can participate in free, hands-on art making activities throughout the festival as well as explore special programming throughout Stillwater.

Soothing Southampton

Coinciding with OSU Arts Week, this event, led by Dr. Priscilla Schwarz, examines a selection of the Guild Hall's turn-of-the-century paintings depicting the inviting landscapes of East Hampton and Montauk.
