This exhibition spans 127 years of artistic production, from 1878 to 2005, showcasing
a broad survey of works by artists inspired by the East End of Long Island—an area
celebrated for its extraordinary light, coastal landscapes, and vibrant creative community—or
collected at a later date. Featuring 72 works from the permanent collection of the
Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, New York, the exhibition reflects artists who have
both shaped and been shaped by American and European art.
From landscapes to abstraction, the show highlights a diversity of artistic visions,
including works by renowned figures such as Willem de Kooning, Thomas Moran, Jackson Pollock, Miriam Schapiro, and Andy Warhol.
