Rambling and Meandering
April 28 - June 20, 2026
In 2026, the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This milestone invites reflection on ideas of freedom, movement, and self-determination that have shaped the nation’s history and imagination. Rambling and Meandering responds to this moment by examining journeys, both literal and symbolic, and their role in how place and identity are understood.
Featuring prints, paintings, and photographs from the permanent collection, the exhibition traces winding paths, open landscapes, and traveled routes. These works invite wonder and rest, while also asking viewers to consider journeys beyond national borders and to see wandering—pausing, noticing, reflecting—as a shared human experience.
