The Art of Asian Languages

April 4, 2017 – June 10, 2017

This exhibition explored intersections of art and language in East Asian culture through contemporary Asian art. Through a variety of styles and media, the artworks demonstrate the fluid boundaries between written language and art, while also addressing recent political and social changes in Asia. Curated by Shaoqian Zhang, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Art History at OSU, in conjunction with four students: Micah Firestone, Ellie Fuksa, Cheyanne Myers, and Katheryn Woodard.

The exhibition was organized by the OSU Museum of Art in conjunction with the Museum Exhibition course taught by Shaoqian Zhang in the spring 2017 semester for the OSU Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History. Students enrolled in the Museum Exhibition course served as exhibition co-curators.
