It's a What?
It's a What? A Sneak Peek at the George R. Kravis II Design Collection
April 16, 2019 - August 17, 2019
Looking at a selection of industrial designs as the focus of a clue game, It’s a What? asks us to think about objects whose designs are obsolete or so novel as to mask their identity. What do they tell us about the objects we surround ourselves? What is behind their creation: stylistic preference? functionality? the demand for technological advances? the designer’s ingenuity? the consumer’s “need” for something new or different? the producer’s profit? This exhibition featured works from the George R. Kravis II Collection, a recent gift to the Museum.
